Alyssa Humenny

Registered Social Worker Psychotherapist

It can be difficult to prioritize our mental health, especially when navigating all the changes and challenges life may present us.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to effectively aid clients in reevaluating and restructuring their thoughts and behaviours to achieve a more balanced lifestyle and healthier state of mind. Within CBT, I often include approaches such as mindfulness, healthy coping skills, and exploration of strengths.

I believe that each client is unique and therapy should align with their personal goals and identity. I aim to create comfortable sessions free of judgement and I am prepared to meet clients at whatever stage of change they are currently at. As a therapist, I collaborate with my clients to facilitate their self-empowerment and growth.

Experience:

Alyssa is a Registered Social Worker who received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from University of Windsor, and her Master’s degree in Social Work at Wayne State University. She has ongoing experience in clinical social work, providing therapy to adolescents and adults, with experience in both virtual and in-person sessions. She has worked with clients facing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, general stress, identity exploration, and more. In the past, Alyssa has also had the opportunity to work and volunteer with homeless and at-risk communities and within an adolescent mental health unit.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Lunaapeewak peoples who have longstanding relationships to the land, water and region of southwestern Ontario. The local First Nation communities of this area include Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Munsee-Delaware Nation. Additionally,  there is a growing urban Indigenous population who make the City of London home. We value the significant historical and contemporary contributions of local and regional First Nations of Turtle Island (North America).
